The website for the Metro North Brisbane Medicare Local is currently under construction. In the meantime please continue to use this site as we re-brand and develop our new site.

Metro North Brisbane Medicare Local

The Metro North Brisbane Medicare Local is part of a new national network of primary health care organisations established by the Australian Government.

Medicare Locals are independent organisations and have a key role in driving improvement in primary health care and in ensuring services are better tailored to meet the needs of local communities.

We work with local healthcare providers including hospitals, general practice, community-based health and welfare agencies, allied health professionals and local and state governments to help to better connect the people in our communities with the healthcare services they need, when they need them.

Our Medicare Local supports communities within Brisbane’s northern suburbs, the Moreton Bay Regional Council and part of the Somerset Regional Council. (View map).

Key areas of focus include working together to build capacity in:

  • joint health service planning
  • mental health
  • health promotion
  • eHealth
  • general practice and allied health support
  • after hours medical service.
