Aged Care Access Initiative (Allied Health)

The Aged Care Access Initiative (ACAI) is Federal Government funded program providing funding for allied health clinical care services to be delivered to residents in residential aged care, where these services not funded under Medicare or by other government funding.

From 2009, residents on Brisbane's north and south sides have been provided with access to psychological and oral health care through our ACAI program and in partnership with Brisbane South Division. In 2011, the Medicare Local will continue to support northside facilties as well as Moreton Bay facilties. Since 2009, our ACAI program has helped well over 2,000 residents.

Extended Skills Post for GP Registrars

The Extended Skill Post, a training and placement program, was developed to encourage GP registrars to work in aged care facilities and view aged care as an extension of their general practice work. The training aims to increase the number of GP registrars being trained to work in residential aged care facilities.
